Where to begin? Starting with an impressive resume, Diane Von Furstenberg has two published books, 109 stores, a hit TV show and is noted as the 68th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes this year. And as a designer, she’s certainly earned her merits. Her iconic wrap dress is so monumental that it’s featured in the Smithsonian, plus she is the President of the CFDA. Through her work with the CFDA, she helped establish the Design Piracy Prohibition Act, which protects designers from counterfeit reproductions of their work. So for her amazing career and determination to empower women and designers, DVF is our monthly muse.
This year alone, DVF published a new memoir and launched a successful TV show. Her memoir is called The Woman I Wanted To Be, which seeks inspire girls and women of all ages. Before her many successes, she wanted to be “the kind of woman who is independent and who doesn’t rely on a man to pay her bills.” And if you haven’t yet, you need to check out her new reality show on E! called House of DVF. In her show, eight contestants compete in various business challenges to acquire sole possession of the title DVF Global Brand Ambassador. So if there’s anything we can learn from DVF, it’s to follow your intuition, so you can become the person you want to be.
